New HHR Miami Owner

Hello everybody. I just got me an awesome Sunburst Orange 2.2 LT. Before purchasing i test drove the car three diff times and had a rental car for four days and now i finally bought one. I also have a 46 Chevy Fleetmaster (my project rust bucket). I just wanted to say hello to everyone and ask a question or two.
1. Is their any known problems i should be aware of? any information would be good, simple little facts like i read in another thread that seats stain easy even with water and from the KBB site that the engines are kind of loud.
2. When i purcased the car yesterday they were offering to sell me alarm, better speakers, etc. I was told by the salesman if i change this stuff and get it done in a none GM dealer i will void my warranty. Is this true? What portion of the warranty would i void
3.Do the interior door panels and side panels scratch easy? I got two dogs and plan on going to Orlando in less then a month and they are coming with me.
4. I was going throught the owners manual and it was talking about doing "Maintenance I" and "Maintenance II". I did not exactly understand when this is suppose to be done, do the mean after the first oil change or when you reach 10 months

All right! Another Miami HHR!

The only one of your questions that I have any personal knowledge of is the door panel question. For me, it seems like it takes quite a bit of pressure to get scratches on the interior panels. So I guess it depends on what kind of dogs you have and how much they weigh. I have a 25 pound terrier mix that is constantly hanging out of the passenger side rear window, and he has not scratched it in the 18 months I've had the HHR. And Eddie just loves going to Disney!

As far as alarm/radio installation, I think it's a load of manuere, just the usual scare tactics. Yes, it may affect a portion of your warranty, but will/can not void the entire warranty. Here is a link ......

Warranty & Magnuson Moss Warranty Act

BTW......
Oh and also there is a pet thread. So make sure you get pics of your HHR and pets, and the HHR with the pets!

1. Do you have running boards? Many have the sandblasting problem and the running boards will alleviate this.
2. Definately sounds like your dealership is using scare tactics which would lead me to believe you should already be looking for an alternate dealer for service.
3. I have an Italian Greyhound. Not very big but very sharp nails and he has yet to scratch any of the plastic.
4. Someone actually looked at the owners manual

I think our dogs love the HHR even more than we do. Those rear opening windows are great.

No one mentioned the loose fuses. Check every one of them. Most of mine were not tight.

We have another Floridian. Welcome!

If I understand this right from the GM Link page, Maint I is at the first oil change, then at the next oil change you perform Maint II then at the next back to Maint I and so on. Easier put do Maint II every other oil change. I could be wrong on this but this is what the GMLink page shows for maintenance on mine.. Hope this helps.. Oh darn! I almost forgot, Welcome to the site..

Any and all road debris will hit your rear door on the bumper pad right in front of the rear tires. After awhile it will look hazy and become pitted.
