New to HHR from PT Cruiser.
Ive never seen another car that lets you do recirc without the a/c on.
It does that so the a/c doesnt overwork itself trying to cool the hot outside air.
I rented a PT before buying the HHR, the only thing I didnt like was the cheaper feel to the interior. The ebony HHR interior sold me.

I traded a 2002 PT for an 06 lt2 HHR,after 2 years i'm still quite happy with with my chevy, Its more reliable than the PT,which had its radio disc player replaced twice, and had to have a leak in the sunroof fixed... long trips in the HHR are less tiring, and it handles better on the road.... I think you made a good choice!!
My wife and I looked at a PT at Carmax a few weeks before we bought the HHR. As I recall the sales lady opened the car I set in the drivers seat my wife in the the front passengers seat. After a quick survey of the dash board we handed the keys back to the sales women didn't even start it up just left.
I'm not saying the PT is junk or anything but that dash has to be one of the ugliest I've ever seen.

Welcome!
I must be the black sheep of the HHR family - I actually LOVE the PT's interior. Especially the cue ball shifter!
Every '01 & up car I've owned did this (even foreign lux cars). It is to prevent the interior from getting muggy, and can be used with the heater (excellent for the snowy days).
What if you don't want it? No ideas.

If I can ever get my wife out of the car I could make some comments . I am happy in the passenger seat and she is totally in love with her car. I did manage to get flaps on and stubby antenna. When the weather breaks I will add more. After driving a Cruiser for the first time last week I am very glad we went Chevy. The HHr is a far better ride. This comes from a Ford guy. The wife has owned Chevys for the last 3 cars and Ford has nothing to compare to the HHR. Sorry but true. Anyway you have a believer in the HHr now. Not that I will get to use it much.
PT's are okay. Not my cup of tea, though.
Wow even more replys from friendly people.
I guess since I drove the PT for seven years, it takes some time to get used to the HHR. Am I breaking it in or is it breaking me in?
No major gripes, just the nit-picks I mentioned.
Locking with the door switch does not turn on the alarm. It did in the PT.
Unlocking with the key does not turn the alarm off. It did on the PT.
Foot room seems to be less. The seats are comfortable though.
I miss the PT passenger side under seat tray, but the dash tray is nice. The glove box is too small.
The oil filter is weird. I didnt think anyone used filters like that anymore. A modern engine with a retro lubrication system?
The AC-recirculation gripe I mentioned before.
I miss the coin holder slots in the PT console.
The windshield is kind of low. Hard to see stoplights sometimes.
The electric steering is odd. It seems to work but takes some getting used to.
None of those things are bad, just different than what I was used to. I'm not running down the HHR, it seems like a good car, just getting to know it.
It's better than the PT in mileage, handling, comfort, less noise, ride, probably more safe, and the doors have a nice solid THUNK when closing.
The HHR is definitely masculine, while the PT was feminine.

You won't regret your purchase! Much cooler than a PT!
