Yes welcome to the Panel club, Loads of info here & very knowledgeable staff & members, the remote fob for 2008 & later panels has 2 more buttons to "pop" the rear doors. (thanks Blue.)..

Now my fob has 1 additional button on top making it 6 buttons. That one is for remote start. I need to take a new pic of mine. Sorry for poor image,

well so far this site has been my "go to" for learning about this thing . . . . i think I've said this a few times already but the more i drive it the more i like it. Going to run out the PA and back on Monday to get some interior parts i need for a boat project, should be a good mpg test run.

Called the GM dealership and the parts guy was a total ***** when i tried to explain i wanted to buy a six button remote and get it programmed for my car. Said they never made one and mine was a standard HHR 5 button remote for my vin, tried to explain that i just wanted to buy a six and get it programmed then he got all pissy and said i had no idea what i was talking about and he couldnt program a remote for an aftermarket starter . . . i pretty much gave up on that call. I am considering just having an aftermarket system put in at this point anyway. I see in reading through here the aftermarket Fobs are hin-n-miss. I went through the process again yesterday when i was putting some new front speakers in. Double checked grounding purple wire, remote start is ON in dic, hit lock, lock/panic . . . . no start. I'll mess with it some more but i do have a regular starter guy that has done every car i have ever owned, worst case an aftermarket would be fine but means i would lose the door poppers (or carry two fobs lol)

Don't know if you mentioned this elsewhere or not... Is the check engine light on for any reason? Remote start won't work if the CEL is on.

You could try clearing the codes (battery disconnect) then see if the remote start works. If it works, that would tell you it was disabled by that P0449.
