I love my 06. It's funny how people make problems out of nothing. There is a 06 at the service dept of one of my dealers. This car is filthy, I mean if you lived out of it, it wouldn't be as dirty. First complaint was a slight amount of condensation on the air con vents. Now this was on a hot humid day (should be self explanatory) .Then they had a water leak. They pulled the carpet back and found where the RAT( I told you it was filthy) that was found had chewed through a seal. Next time car comes in with a water leak and they put it under the shower a found nothing. Now this car was built after the foam seal tsb. First thing customer said when they came in the first time was GM is buying it back! Now the dealer is thinking they filled the floorboard up with a water hose. Bad part is the car is about to be repossessed and the people are just trying to find a way out of a car they bought but couldn't pay for!

People who do crap like that just me off. Many people out there actually have problems with whatever car they own and can't get it fixed because the dealer doesn't believe them.

But on the lighter side, if you like the 06 and it's for the price you said, go for it

Hi Tom,

I bought my 06 LT from a Chevy dealer a few months back. It's a 5 speed and had 5,200 miles on it at that point. They wanted $13,500 for it. It was about to go into the body shop to have the damaged paint (In front of the rear wheels) repaired. I got them to drop the price to $12,800 and then negotiated a price of $700 to have them order, paint and install running boards.

Does the HHR you're looking at have running boards on it already? If not... search some of the threads to read about the damage that you most likely will suffer without them.

I'm not sure how other HHR's are priced in your area... but I'd definitely be trying to get that car with running boards installed for the same price if it doesn't have them already.

My HHR is freaking fun to drive!

If you do buy it... I'm sure it'll be a fun experience!

Good luck,
Walker

Here are a couple pics.

That's a 1LT. 2LT models have 17" tires and polished rims as standard equipment.

For a 2006 with low mileage, I think the price they want is too high, even with your supplier discount.
Keep in mind this vehicle is 2 model years old now, with the 2008s about to, or already hitting the lots.

On the right rear window, is that the original factory spec sheet or an Optimum spec sheet?

I see you did a Carfax on it. Did the Carfax report indicate it was never sold?

I think that price is high as well.
Shop around, you'll be amazed at what you'll find.

There's some good advice in the previous answers...model year end is here and the 08's are coming off the line. From the pictures it looks good and has a sunroof, running boards and flaps.
Ask around and see if the dealer has a good service dept. If he does, go for it.
They're gonna miss you at the gas station.

I just bought an 06 2LT with 11k for $14k out the door.

Just for reference it has
Leather/heated seats
Moon roof
On Star
XMS/6 CD changer
2.4 Auto
Roof rack
Running boards
High polish Wheels

2LT package Includes 2.4,
chrome exhaust tip
Sport tuned suspension
Chrome appearance pak
fog lamps
Pioneer 7 speaker system
Leather wrap steering wheel with redundant radio and information controls
Leather shift knob
Auto dim IS mirror with compass
Side curtain Airbags
17" Wheels

The LT2 is a $1800 pak

Extras on mine not included in LT pak:
Leather is $750
On Star is $700
Polished Wheels $395
Radio is $295
Side Curtain Airbags $395

List price was $24,125 on sticker when new

I paid $13400 Before TTL (Sales Tax in SC is capped at $300 for cars)

I have the stuck ignition issue.

That price is far too high for that car. The price you listed was the asking price on mine!

So how much is certification worth and 10,000 less miles is the question,

Since I bought mine from a Dodge dealer there is no Certification. That may be a good thing on this car to have.

I think you should do what you think is best for you. In my area, the KBB value of a car with the features you indicated has a suggested retail of $17,700. Your personal situation and what the average prices in your area should help determine the value. If it feels good deep down, then go for it...if it doesn't, then keep looking until it does feel good. The day I bought my HHR I looked at 4 dealerships and at least 50 HHRs...and when I saw Smoke, I knew he was the one I wanted.

Edit: btw...the price above was done rating it as a 1LT with an automatic.

That car is worth 12-13k tops. It's too old to pay 15k. I paid 16,800 for my 1LT brand new w/GMS.
