New Member - Looking at 06 @ Local Chevy Dealer

Hello

I'm looking at a 2006 HHR 2LT Silverstone Metallic at a local dealer. It's got 1,631 miles on it, dealer says he's had it since new.

Were there any specific problems with the 06's compared to the 07's, anything I should look for?

It's got the 2.4 engine in it, took it for a test drive, seemed pretty tight, had trouble keeping it below 60 mph on the speedo.

May be buying tomorrow 9/3 or tuesday 9/4.

Going from a white 2002 Dodge Durango 4x4 with a 4.7 V8 engine.

Thanks for any info.

Riiiiiiiight. Hate to be cynical but I doubt it. Don't you dare pay anything remotely near a "new" price. Am I missing something here y'all?

and the clunking in the steering coloum, all covered by warranty so as long as it has a warranty I'd say go for it. You may be at the dealer once or twice to get some fixes but if the price is right then its worth it. You could get an 08 and have these issues or even worse ones. You will not be missing the power of the durango while your in an HHR. I also have an 06 with the 2.4 a/t and its got all the get up and go you'll need, but with much better mileage.

WELCOME to the forum and don't forget to treat yourself to a new camera and a road trip after you pick up your new HHR, we love pics here

Could be a loaner, parts delivery or an employees car, seems low but could happen.

Look for paint lines and overspray. Run your fingers along the inside edge of the hood and doors. If it's rough, it's been painted. If smooth, it's factory paint.

The issues usually depend on when the car was assembled and where the car has been located. My car was assembled in '05 towards the start of the '06 run, but it hasn't had any issues except for four flat tires that were my fault. Around here, if a few people report a problem on the forum, you'll find that people regard it as a "common" problem, when in fact only a few cars out of 100,000 will ever experience those issues.

Wasn’t there some pretty major water leaks with some of the 06's? (Also known as the floor mat bath-tub disorder)

Thanks for the Quick Replies

It's got a GM Certified Used Vehicle window sticker on it with full GM warranty included.

Shows $18,995 as the market based price, their selling for $16,046, also since I work for a corporate GM partner, I'll get another 5% or so off should come our around $15,200.

Didn't see any paint overspray on any thing really looks new under hood, underneath and in wheel wells. Also did a Carfax and it's checks out clean.

Again Thanks
