New roof rack installed.....

.....actually it isn't new, but it is new to me. Picked it up at a local wrecking yard a few weeks ago. Almost got one from a Mazda Tribute, but then saw this one. Looked at alot of racks on alot of cars and SUV's..........settled on this one seen in the picture below. I especially like the way it looks from the back. First test tomorrow: Kayaking.

z71 Tahoe...........

The z71 Suburban rack is longer. I could have used either one , but with the z71 Tahoe rack, I didn't have to cut the length of the roof rails. I did however, have to shorten the cross bars to fit on the narrower width of the HHR roof.

Also, the z71 Suburban has two pedastals per rail and I would have had to make many more cuts to each of the rails (6 cuts per side) to get the pedastals to be centered along each rail. The z71 Tahoe rails didn't require any cutting.......just had to cut some inches off the cross bars. Measure twice, cut once.
