From the company profile on Yahoo, finance.....

The company was founded as the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. in 1883 and changed its name to PPG Industries, Inc. in 1968. PPG is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I did an online quote with safelite, a company I use at work all the time with our company vehicles. The HHR quote is double what my Isuzu NPR windshield costs! Apparently size doesn't matter! This is installed plus tax!

Safelite Regular Price: $957.45 View Detail
Low Price Resolution: 50% Off
Your Price: $473.95 (not including taxes)

I think the last time I paid 150-200 bucks for a windshield was for my 1976 Ford Maverick! I've come to learn that replacing a windshield is a part of life, especially having owned several trucks over the past 15 years - truck windshields are the worst! (Due to their size vs. a passenger vehicle, I assume) Anyway, I think if you do any amount of "regular" driving to and from work, replacing a windshield is (or will become) something you will learn to deal with on occasion.

I think it the angle more that the size. Most cars these days have a good rake to the windshield. The HHR and most trucks are "brick" like. When it hits, it hits verses a chance to glance off.

Why have 1 or 2 threads you can find by searching when we can have 6, 7, or more with all of latest and freshest of info!

I'm trying to get over stuff like this that just annoys the crap out of me! The Doctors say I should be cured any year now!
