No more HHR

Well guys after only a year I traded my HHR for a TrailBlazer.

I know what you are thinking?? am I Crazy?? well no im not.

I was paying 339 for a loaded 2LT. I was very happy with my HHR. and i was in a 5 year loan with 3.9% interest. I didnt have any negative equity. and i put $1000 down.

Now yesterday they announced end of summer bonus money. 500 on cars, 1000 on trucks, vans, and suvs, and 1500 on trailblazers.

on top of the 1500, i got 1000 more because im a GM employee, plus the 1250 in lease rebate. total= $3750. not to mention my waived security deposit.

the HHR has nothing for leases. hell the HHR berely has a rebate to buy.

I am in a 27 month lease for 288 a month. with 15k miles a year. thats a savings of $49 dollars a month. and i only put 600 down (that was the positve equity on my hhr)

now i know what you are saying, but i'll pay more in gas. correct! but the saving of 49 dollars will make up for that. plus paying 339, i still have to buy gas in the HHR.

My wife was complaining that there was not enough room for our two children, Diaper bags, double strollers. and then add groceries, and other things, when shopping, or for trips.

I love leasing cars. I hate the idea of spending alot of money over a long perieod of time just for the car not to be worth it in the end. plus after 3 years, you have no warranty. I only bought the HHR, because I really wanted the vehicle. I would have leased it, but the HHR leases are horrible. And you can take my word for it, I sell Chevy. but i was paying 339 to drive a $22k vehicle, now i am spending 288 to drive a $30k vehicle. 50 bucks less to get $8000 more vehicle.

So I am writing this, not to discourage anyone from buying the HHR. Or making people do a mad dash to Trade their's in. I just want people to know to not be burried in one vehicle. and many people think, that bigger vehicles will cost more to drive than smaller ones. HHR's are great to buy, crappy to lease. Trailblazers are crappy to buy, Absolutely wonderful to Lease.

so when you put both payments together The trailblazer wins out hands down. yeah it sucks on gas. but oh well. im saving enough money to make up for it.

One of the benefits of working for a dealership. You see things in a much different light than the general public. I hope you keep coming around to the forum even though you don't own an HHR. Good luck with the new vehicle and be sure to post pics...you know how we are.

I'm in the same boat as you. I bought my HHR 11 months ago when I saw the first commercial on tv for it. I love the vehicle but I'm wanting to get something better. I wish they would have had a better lease option because now I need to figure out what I want to do with a depreciating HHR. Won't get much for a trade, especially if I give it to the Audi dealer, and selling it privately might take a while. I'll definetely be leasing an Audi if I decide to make a move on that vehicle. I guess I'll have a bit more time to enjoy my HHR and then onto new things. Have fun with the Trailblazer.

Adios,
Mike

I am not that fiscally responsible they will have to prey my HHR from my cold dead hands...I am calling tomorrow to see if there is enough of a deal to be made on my Escort to trade into HHR #2...

Well I'm in it for the long run. My plan is to pass it on to my son in a few years and most likely purchase another one.

Good luck with your new ride

Are you sure you wont get much for your HHR? They have a strong residual for a Chevy... far better in comparison than the position I was in with my previous Saturn ION. I was looking at the A4 about 3-4 months ago and it's a shame they don't offer special lease deals any longer. Audi has done away with those. But that doesn't mean you still can't get a good lease deal on one. I'm kinda in the exact same position as you, I was in a rough spot and needed a new car immediately, I saw the HHR, liked it, and bought it. Now, almost 9 months later, I can afford a little more, and have been looking at cars like the A4, C230, etc. but ultimately I've grown too attached to my HHR to trade it in. I'd like to get something nicer in addition to it I've been thinking about waiting for the 2007's to trade my HHR in for another one, just loaded this time. But I'm not in any rush.

Oh, and congrats on the TrailBlazer batman! My father had leased one and just got out of it a couple months ago. He had far too many problems with it. After 3 years it only had 18,000 miles on it. Hopefully you'll have better luck than he did

Batman.......we always welcome your input, so make sure you stick aorund with us. As for the trade......times are not what they were and we all have to make consessions. I'm just glad to see you stuck with Chevrolet.
