Oil Change

I will need to change oil soon and this will be my first time doing an HHR. I'm use to doing the typical spin-on filters and the cartridge type on my '66 Chevy. The HHR filter looks easy especially doing it from the top.
Is a gasket used on the drain plug? If do what is size or part number for it?

Thanks.

Oil pan plug has an o-Ring . No need to replace it.

Funny. I've had this new HHR drain plug sitting in my computer room for 3 years. Bought it at the dealer because my original on the car was leaking. Wanted just the rubber gasket but the plug AND gasket where only 6 cents more than the gasket alone ! Weird GM pricing.
The gasket is not an O-ring. More of a flat washer with a ridge seal. It sits in the recess of the drain plug.

"Shorty" socket is very helpful to remove oil filter cap, any auto parts stores usually have them.

Oil Filter will look like this, Oil up the O-ring & others, so it doesn't scrape up the O-Rings.

I stand corrected, the plug has a washer not an o-ring .

Oil pan plugs are essentially standard on many GM vehicles. As such, and I have all GM vehicles, I purchased 12 washers in a plastic bag for $1.00.

I've never replaced my Oil pan plug washer. Still the OE one.
