Seriously...I don't know if it's "right" but extended drain intervals for the engines in cars of mine which see more than 10,000 miles annually get that oil change schedule, and it works well, as long as I'm using an ester-based 10w30 synthetic oil. My choice is Red Line Oil but there are some other, premium ester-based products out there.
