Oil pump question

Oil pump question

I was looking at a 2.2 pump I see a spring and the unit sits in the cover .. so how does it work to pump ...

That is the oil pressure relief valve. The pump is part of the chain cover.

So is it driven by the. Chain to pump like the old style engines ?

The crank balancer engages the the pump from the crankshaft.

Thanks guys well balance shaft chain was stretch bent a sprocket tooth the tensioner in side the motor was shot or gave out .. causing no flow from the pump but like I said she old and ready for retirement ..
