Shhhhhh. Be very quiet and enjoy the free tunes until they cut it off. I bought a used XM boombox off eBay, and enjoyed free tunes for almost six months. The previous owner must have paid for one year in advance. I have a short drive to work but love the XM. Where I live , our local stations suck so bad, the XM is worth it to me. Mine is an add on unit, but I still love it.

I thought I was going to go crazy for the 2 days my car was in the body shop. I didn't have my XM. I find that I can't stand FM anymore because of all the commercials. There would be times that it would be straight commercials for 10 minutes. Even if I am going for a short drive I want tunes not commercials. It is great on long trips too, you always have a familiar station. Worth every penny if you ask me

The only terrestrial radio we listen to now is a local morning show when we get up and a local AM news station.

I agree dbfruth, now.

When we were looking at the HHR, we were of the mindset "Who would pay to listen to radio?". We swore up and down that we didn't want XM.

When we went to see our salesman, the HHR that we took for a test drive happened to have XM, so we decided that we'd listen to it since our salesman lets us take vehicles out for long (2+ hour) test drives.

Well, by the time we got back to the dealership, we were sold on XM.

Since getting the HHR last October, we've since added 3 more radios (got really good deals on them) at home and at work. We even have an antenna repeater set up in the house so that we can listen to different channels upstairs and downstairs.

I liked XM so much that I added a receiver to my Wifes Jeep. XM had a deal where you could buy a brand new Roady for $6.95 if you committed to 1 year of service. I jumped on the deal.

I've had XM radio for 2 years now and don't listen too anything else. One at work (which the folks have programed to 16 favorite channels), one at home (Wife likes Dr. Laura) and a mount on the bike. Watch out a X-mas time, they run great deals on xmradio.com. I got an Roady xt and 6 months service for $42.00 last x-mas.

Sounds like some good promo deals DO exist for XM
I do however find a lot of commercials on XM. They annoy me horribly. I'm paying for the service, so why the commercials?

This is on the Comedy channels and others too. I understand when they are simply re airing an AM or FM station like they do, but otherwise I do not even want to hear a promo for their own station!

They Touted CD quality, which they are far from and commercial free which they are not. Still they have their place if the price is low enough.
As you can see, I'm kinda conflicted on the issue

I agree In the time I have listened to the XM stations I hear XM commercials and others. But really I am a talk radio junkie and the local FM station fits that bill with syndicated content. Commercials don't bother me.

When I want music I have 6 CDs loaded and my MP3 PLayer connected with 24,000 songs without any commercials (and they play when Im under a bridge)

But I am 50 years old and disconnected with today's music and have all the classic music I enjoy in the player.

If I spent hours commuting to work and back perhaps it would be a bargain. HEll Id have a TV.......

Most Music channels are commercial free. There are about 5 owned by clear channel that run ads (they are marked with "cm" in the channel name). The talk channels have ads . It's annoying but alot of the talk channels are syndicated on other stations that do run ads.

I just put a rodie xt in the wifes durango and found a promo for 3 months free and free activation. I added it to my family plan. I have the HHR, a INNO, and now the rodie in the durango. I have had XM for 3 and 1/2 years now. It would be hard to get rid of it now.

Hey man, I'll be 60 in March, but I have gotten hooked on Channel 20 which is the top 20 for young folks. There is actually some pretty good music on there. My 5 year old granddaughter likes it too....
