P1516 & p2101 2007 hhr lt

Driving home today my car stalled and gave me Engine Reduced Power indicator and check engine light. Resulting codes were P1516 & P2101.
My friend came and looked at it and said I probably had to replace Throttle Body. I waited about 30 mins and was able to drive about 2 more miles home.

Should I replace the Throttle Body? Any brands recommended? GM Bosch Std Motor?
Or any other recommended action?

thanks

Before I condemn the TB I would test it. Is your friend a mechanic? What did you read the codes with. A good scan tool is a time saver but you can test this with a dvom.

My friend is not a mechanic but he works at a shop. He said he previously had something similar with his vehicle and he resolved by replacing the throttle body.
I personally am not qualified to test the TB. Any opinions on the Throttle Body brands?

I used an OBDII diagnostic scanner.

I’d investigate a little check the wiring harness for any shorts, don’t throw parts at it when it could be simple fix

I would go with OEM but that's me.You have about a 50/50 chance that'll fix it.

Could be just a low battery or a dirty TB or a bad connection. The 2 codes a basically the same, the difference being one is a bad signal for .3 seconds and the other is for .5 seconds. I would suspect a wire or connection before the TB.
They mean the butterfly is not where the computer thinks it should be.

Thanks. I will look tomorrow for a bad connection. We changed spark plugs about 10 days ago and maybe partially tripped some wire or connection.

When you clean the throttle body use throttle body cleaner spray, and do not manually move the butterfly, the plastic gears will strip out very easily!

I concur
A good and proper throttle body clean and physical inspection of components
Reset the light and a spirited road test.
All good after? Get it home and have a beverage of choice to a job well done.

I don't readily see any loose wires or bad connections. Wiring harness looks pretty solid.
The throttle body currently in there is a no name generic about 1.5 years old that I don't have much faith in.
I think I'll just order the TB from Rockauto. GM GENUINE 12694875.
Hope that solves it.
