Question Plastic on rear bumper question

I have a plastic piece on the front part of the rear fender (in front of tire). It got hashed up bad this winter because of sand on the roads. Anyone know a good way to buff it all out and to protect it from getting damaged again?

Here is a pic of the area I am talking about....

Only solution to prevent more/repeat damage are running boards. Lots of discussion/debate on this topic.

Here's a couple of good threads to start with.........

That plastic strip is doing just what it was designed to do, take a licking from road debris.
Get running boards, then get that strip retouched (dealer should do it, there`s a TSB).

PS. saw the pix of your garage, does the middle open or does the whole thing go up???

This is why I'm SO happy that running boards are standard equipment for the Canadian Market The only problem is we have to pay if we want remote start

you can get running boards and remove that padding afterwards.

I wish we could trade our remote start, which my Wife only used for a couple of weeks 'til the novelty wore off, for the running boards that would really be useful!

I'd get running boards as quickly as possible. Those pieces can be removed...I believe they are just held on with 3M type tape. I did have them leave mine on when I had the running boards added...but I had that done before the damage began too.

The door (white part) is the only part that goes up.

If you take the strips off, (don`t know if they will leave a mark), let me know, I`ve been looking for a set.
Thanx for the reply.
