Potential buyer

Hello HHR community! I am a current Mustang owner, however I'm looking at a 2009 base HHR for a more economical and reliable vehicle. This is an ad for the exact HHR I'm looking at:

Cars for Sale: 2009 Chevrolet HHR LS in Lakeville, MN 55044: Wagon Details - 389645246 - AutoTrader.com

Not much in the way of pictures but what is there looks pretty nice. I'm posting to ask if there is anything in particular I should look for when I check this thing out. It's a 2 hour drive so I would like to be as knowledgeable as possible prior to the drive up or to know if the drive is even worth it. Thanks in advance!

Look for the usual in a used car purchase. Get a carfax, research mechanics in the area and take it to one of your choosing for a once over inspection before purchase. I would also run the vin number and see if any off the recalls have been performed yet. These are great lil wagons but as Im sure you know poeple are not always honest at a dealership. lol

Couple of things to check, do the brakes pulsate when stopping and does the front end rattle when going over a bump or railroad tracks. Both are things that are common to HHR's. Looks like a nice clean car.

Indeed. I was a saleshole for about a year, I know how they (we) operate.

Will do, thanks for the heads up. :)

I found another one much closer than my original post that also looks quite nice, has low mileage, but seems way overpriced. I may go drive this one:

Pritchard Family Auto Stores | New and Used Cars, Trucks, Vans and SUVs in Northern Iowa

first to see if I like the HHR and if I can get them down to a reasonable price.

That 2nd one is not a base LS like the 1st one you posted. The 2nd one is a LT with a few extras. The running boards are a big plus. Naturally the LT is going to be priced a little more.
