Power lift gate

Has anyone thought of installing an actuator to the rear gate so it's powered?

Are you thinking about a remote release for the latch, or actually something like a servo operated open/close function like a Cadillac trunk lid?

Check out local junkyards for Chrysler Town & Country mini vans.

My parents bought one a few years ago right after we bought our Chevy Venture.

The town & country has the automated rear hatch with a remote function. Opens and Closes it fully.

It's Nice and wished Chevy had offered it on our fully loaded "Warner Bros. Edition" Chevy Venture mini van at that time.

You might be able to scarf the parts at the yard and get creative.

yes, for a power opening and closing lift gate.
but now that you mention it, how would you get the latch to release and close?

These are not easy to fabricate, as you see you need to move the hatch and also operate the latch. And what if somebody walks under as its closing? Some kind of sensors with shutoff.
Some vehicles have the two-stage latch moving too, to help closing tight without damaging the mechanism.
The system on the chevy traverse is pretty good. Not sure if I would bother trying to fit it though.
