power mirror issue

I have an issue with my driver side power mirror.
The mirror will move up, down and right...but wont move to the left.

my passenger side mirror is fine - it moves in all directions.

Is a new mirror needed or is there a fix someone knows or can suggest?
Thanks!

You can try cleaning the contacts inside of the mirror switch or replace the switch.

From the research I just did you will have to replace the drivers mirror switch.
It looks like not a hard job.
Remove the two screws under the door pull cover and carefully pry the switch assembly out.
Install new mirror switch and reinstall.
Mirror switch is not that expensive also.

I would think that if 1 mirror works and the other doesn't, then it would be a bad mirror assembly.
Reason being that they both use the same controller switch, so that must be working OK if the right side moves in all directions.

Or. Small chance that the wiring from the switch to the left mirror has a bad connection somewhere.

Can you hear motor hum at the mirror when you try to move the mirror to the left? If so, switch is good, mirror is bad. If no hum, then could be either.

If you manually move the mirror by hand, does the force needed seem the same moving it in both directions?

The same motor is used for left and right. The switch flips the + and - going to the motor to select right or left. Highly unlikely the actual DC motor would operate in one direction only.

On the other hand, the way the switch is wired, it doesn't seem likely that only one direction would fail while the other mirror worked fine in all directions.

Here is a wiring diagram:

I found that you can manually adjust them.

We have seen more switch problems with these cars than motors.
Being it's the drivers door, there are more reasons to look at the switch.
Window being open when it rains comes to mind when you forgot to close the window.
I go with Blues suggestion of cleaning the switch first, if you can get it a part or change the switch for about $18.
I'm sure you can shop around for a better price.

I'm with firemangeorge on this one. If the switch is able to move one mirror, but not the other, then the switch should be fine.

New mirror, or at least inspect it, perhaps there is some obstruction.

Same for me. Switch was dirty. Motors are fine. And the way the switch works it’s possibly for one side’s up/down/left/right to work and not the other side.

That’s what I said! Skylines ride is a 2008 so the switch is in the door but the window switches are in the console waterfall
