Proper hitch ball mount?

I have a 2011 LT that came with a tow hitch. I've been looking for hitch ball thingy and found several online when I search HHR hitch ball mount. But then I go to the sites, enter HHR and always get "does not fit your vehicle" even though it looks like it does. Any recommendations?

Here is one example: https://www.etrailer.com/Ball-Mounts...ite/36061.html I'm also wondering how long does it need to be to get from under the car and past the bumper?

Ahh that is the hitch thingy - I was just going to ask you to clarify that.

Anyways just measure from the locking hole in your existing hitch that is attached to your car and figure out how far out the back you want it to sit.
note they specify the measurement - ie: solid shank measures 9-3/4" from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole.

How can we tell as we have no idea what hitch you currently have - you might want to specify the brand of hitch and ask others that have the same brand for advice.

There is no brand on the hitch. This HHR is decked out so I assumed the tow hitch was factory installed. The receiver is smaller than the standard 2" you see on bigger vehicles. Guess I should do some measuring. Thanks for your reply.

Trailer hitch were dealer or aftermarket installed, Curt or other companies produce them.

The receiver is 1 1/4 inch.

and there is not great need to order online which might kill you with shipping charges, as most auto parts stores carry an assortment of them, especially those specializing in truck stuff.

I didn't find it at my favorite Advance Auto but there are plenty of other stores to check this weekend. Thanks.

Here is what I use and it is applicable for most small trailers with 8"' or 12" tires.
Curt Ball mount 45024 9 1/2" O.A. long and 5 " rise.
1 1/4' Receiver Tube.
Hitches were not available from the factory.

Trailer Hitch dimensions:
center hole to edge of bumper = 5 3/4"
top of receiver opening to ground = 10 3/8"- 11 1/2" (depends on wheel and tire size)
