I am going to tow my HHR behind the motorhome and according to the owners manual I need to pull fuse #8 from inside on passenger side. I have heard of people making up a switch with a fuse inline and replacing said regular fuse and mounting the switch under the dash or other convenient location. My question is has anyone seen a pro made switch to replace a fuse instead of me going to all the trouble of trying to make my own.

 

You might ask this question on RV.net. I'm sure someone will have an answer. If not a commercially available switch, an easier way to make one.

 

if this helps you at all, removing the fuse panel is simple, and it just snaps in to place.

First one they sent didn't work very well do to the location of fuse #8. They sent me another one setup for a Honda that had a mini fuse on the end that was blown but the fuse I took out fit in a inline fuse holder and fit right in the socket as it should. I tied it down with included ties and tucked the switch up behind the heat duct out of the way but still I can reach it from the drivers seat.

 

OK, First post. What happens if you DON'T pull the fuse. I am assuming that it is to prevent the battery going down if you are towing for several hours (days?). We have towed a Jeep Cherokee 2WD for a bazillion miles without ever pulling fuses. I know it's a different car, but am just wondering what the downside of not pulling the fuse is.
