Question for ChevyMgr and/or..........

Hey Brad,

I sent a PM to you about this but maybe you didnt get it.

I am really considering trading up to an SS. What I would like to do is ask someone that works for GM and knows for certain.

Has GM made any changes mechanically to the 09 SS's? I am making reference to the intercooler pipe leak problem, low vacuum at start up concerning brakes and/or any other 'fixes' to problems that have plagued the 08 SS.

Thanks,

Don

Sorry Don,

I just answered the PM. As of today there has been no new information released on any changes, and the last meeting I attended made no mention of any changes. When we get one in I will be able to tell you more.

Plagued? How many people have actually had these problems?

Sorry, I don't have statistical numbers for you. Of course the HHR SS was not the only topic at my last GM meeting or the technical meeting my shop foreman went to, but their have been enough reported cases on the no brakes/vacuum problem, pipe leaks and boost gages, that GM felt they needed to address them with us.

Thats what I was thinking too, Brad. It seems like almost immediately after purchase, folks that bought SS's that are on this board piped in about relatively the same complaints. I can only imagine what the numbers are nationally. Granted, not all 08 SS's will have the same problems just like my 08 2LT has had none of the problems with rotors, etc. I just want to be as informed as possible before I order an 09 SS if the problems have been addressed or, if not, make a killer deal on a remaining 08 and change out the problematic pieces to aftermarket right off the bat.

Well, just for your note HipHotRod. I have had my '09 for 2 weeks/800 miles and the only quirk I've had so far is "Hyde" will backfire sometimes if I'm slow on my 1-2 shift. I'll definately post if I come across any more quirks.

I think you will find the 08 was really more 09 than 08. GM made many changes the SS early and looks to be adding only a few option in 09.

Now that does not mean they will not make running changes thought the year.

They started to sell the 04 GP in the spring of 03. It had several changes made during the year. Depending on what part of the year it was built is what changes it got. Most were invisable except for the better padded rear seat.
