Has anyone installed one if the double din radios you see on ebay for 60 to 75 dollars? If so how do they perform? Thanks in advance

I "looked into" doing that, however, after installing the radio you'd need to take the car into the stealership and pay them around $100 or more for them to re-program your car to accept the new radio. I decided it was money better spent to buy an aftermarket radio...

What I did was pop the front of the radio off and replaced mine to get my MP3 jack working again. And that has been working ever since.

but that didn’t involve changing the whole radio, just the face.

As long as it is a working unit it should be fine, but you will need the dealer to program it to work with your car.

I should have been clearer on my question. Im talking about the aftermarket double dins with backup camera you see on ebay for around $60. Im not talking about putting a factory radio back in. How do those aftermarket radios perform? Is tge fm reception ok? Thanks

This is what I bought (have not installed it yet)...

And you'll need this device if you want to retain all the factory chimes....

Nice setup! A_bartle thanks for the links. You holding out till the OEM radio fails, or just don’t have the time?

The old radio has been "going" for a while now, all started last winter when it was super cold outside and the display went a little crazy, but the radio kept working. However, from then on every day it was cold it would flare up, and that has continued up till now even when it's not all that cold. In the last few weeks it started totally cuting out from time to time, which is why I finally decided to seek a replacement.

Yeah, haven't got it done for a couple reasons, I've been super busy with all kinds of "stuff", and my daughter has been driving the HHR as of late and it's hard to work on a moving target, lol. Hopefully I'll get to it soon, and I'm also looking for a factory wiring diagram so I know what color wires to play with...

The wiring diagrams are on the site in several different posts. You might try looking in my gallery, they should be in there.
