I went through that about 3 years ago. The insurance company paid out about $4K to repair and repaint. I now have a two-tone HHR, as most of the damage was on the top half.

Interesting tactic the insurance company used (there were thousands of damaged cars). The adjuster wrote it up as though all repairs could be done with the dent-removal tools requiring no bodywork or paint. Then when you had a shop fix it, they would pay the additional money for the standard type of repair (sand/fill/paint). My initial estimate was for less than 15% of what it ended up costing. I suspect they did this to keep people from walking away with the money and not fixing it. A friend in the insurance business confimed that that was why they did it like that. This may not be true of other companies, only my experience with mine.

Good Luck
Steve
