My brother was in back of the car recently and attempted to raise the back head rest and wound up pulling out the whole thing out. At first I was going to kill him for breaking my car. Then I noticed there was no latches to move it up a link or two. It just comes straight out once you press the release button.

It's so you can get to the hooks for child seats tethers in the little bins in back. I have to remove them every time I put my older daughters seat in or pull it out.

I did the same thing, but I thought i broke it. My back seats are down most of the time, but if they are up I'll take them off and put them in the back so I can see better out the rear window.

I removed mine as well for the same reasons and doubt I will ever put them back in, have them stowed away just in case though!
