It is for things flying out of the compartment if the lid popped open during a crash.

Do you mean the head impact recall? Must be because the HHR has only had two recalls. Most dealers do this update in less than 30 minutes.

I guess that's why I'm confused. They mailed that part to me and I installed it three months ago. So I'm wondering why they are sending me this postcard now??

Because GM wants the dealers to get ALL recalls completed. So when dealers download their list of customers with open recalls, some dealers send those red cards out.

Smart service managers know better than to mail a recall card on that recall since the customers were mailed the parts. Dumb service managers waste their money by mailing them out. Guess what I did.

Yeah, I had to check to make sure my latch bin had been fixed... I was just concerned that it would pop open one day in a parking lot while I'm at school in Flint, and EVERYONE could see my iPod in there....

Then I could say, "Goodbye" to that!

i have personally never had a problem with mine. i have more trouble opening it. i didnt put that thing on because it took up too much room. besides that glove box may be gone soon for a project i have planned.

So you threw away the safety fix .... make sure any driver you allow to drive is aware of the risk and if you sell the car make sure the buyer is aware that it does not comply with all safety requirements.

yeah you gotta install it before you sell the car or you could be liable if the flying door kills someone.

Yah, i installed the plate just cuz,, did not want problems down the road (if i ever sell mine )with a uncompleted recall.

One like this is prob not as important as something like a brake line recall or the like, but still,,,,,

With it being so easy to call up a VIN and get all the dealership's work done to a vehicle (was a eye opener when a dealership tech buddy pulled up everything done on my Silverado from his laptop on the hood of the truck.)
It's prob less of a headache down the road if everything deemed necessary is checked off.
