Recall?
i didnt install that small piece of plastic that just sticks on to the bin, it takes up to much room and it blocks half of my gps screen. in a way it creates a safty hazard for me because i cant just clance at the gps i actually have to streatch up to see it taking my eyes off the road for longer than i like
Because GM wants the dealers to get ALL recalls completed. So when dealers download their list of customers with open recalls, some dealers send those red cards out.
Smart service managers know better than to mail a recall card on that recall since the customers were mailed the parts. Dumb service managers waste their money by mailing them out.
Guess what I did.

Guess what I did.GM sent me the piece about two months ago but I still haven't gotten around to installing it.
My question is, if the recall is in the system but the repair is a do-it-yourself job (as evidenced by GM sending the pieces to the owners) how does one go about updating the GM system. Do I call/email/send a letter to GM stating I have done the recall or do I contact the dealership and let them know.
I actually find it a little strange that GM would make a recall repair a do-it-yourself job. I know it's a simple matter of removing some tape backing and sticking the piece in place but couldn't their be future litigation and liability concerns against GM if something does happen in the future where the bin opens and something hits a passenger as a result of an accident because the recall repair failed or was put on incorrectly? I would assume GM should do the repair in order to cover their asses.

This is what tells dealers about all open recalls. The only way a recall comes off the GMVIS system is for the dealer to submit a claim stating they did the recall.
