Red Paint

I bought my 2009 Panel new. I saw there was some bubbling on the inner side bottom of drivers door since it was new. I always assumed it was RTV sealant smeared between the seams of the door. I don't drive it too much, it has 56K miles. I took it to the store this morning and saw red paint flaked off rust. I guess they painted over the rust. Since it isn't in a real conspicuous place, I want to use a wheel wheel on it and is there somewhere that sells an aerosol spray can of red paint? It won't be any worse that all the bubbling. Thx, Bear

I would suggest to first prep the spot & treat it w/Por-15 from www.eastwood.com or similar place.
Then after curing, you can get a rattle can of red, & go at it..

Who painted over rust? You? Unless you are prepared to cut out the bad stuff and weld in new then do fill sand and paint best to not touch it. You have no idea what you are getting into.

He said it was that way since brand new.

But I do agree, if you're going to do a job, do it right.

A soda blaster is tedious, wire wheel the rust as best you can , then rust converter, primer and red paint.

These guys supply a great Color match

I think there is a rust through warranty. That would apply if you can see through the rust.

That would have been until 5 or 6 years of service, so expired along time ago

Chevy HHR: Corrosion coverage is for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Rust-through coverage is for the first 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Yea, and the last HHR built was in May 2011, so way past 6 years ago. Warranty has expired
