Remote Starter
Wife and I were out with friends to dinner in another city about 70 miles away. When finished I was playing "Big Man" and started my HHR while still in the restaurant so it would be warm. We got outside and they were oohing and aahing about how nice it was. I got in the car, stuck the key in, and proceded to put her in Drive. Couldn't do it. I tried the headlights, nothing happened. My gauges were dead. I was thinking of how we would get back home being that far away....I was really trying to put her in gear when I realized I had not turned the key to "ON". They got a good laugh out of it. I think I'm getting too old too fast.
I have an 06 with auto and it came standard on my HHR. To my knowledge it can be deleted but otherwise comes standard with every automatic transmission ever since launch here in the US. I believe it is an option in Canada.
I have never had a remote start on any vehicle but after purchasing this HHr
I will never have a vehicle of my own with out it, It is Great in the winter.
I have never used it in the summer. It is one of the better features along with the Heated seats

Thanks Smoke and Captain H. I stand corrected. Perhaps since it's standard, I overlooked it when reviewing the options side of the new car sticker and not looking closely enough at the standard equipment!
An Epiphany
it brings up an interesting point regarding battery, cold cranking amps, and starter power...using the remote starter should make it easier on the battery/electrical system since the only part being used is the starter, and some signal from the MLPS(range sensor, aka neutral safety switch). This would lighten the load on the battery during cold starts.
3 times the thing hasn't started since I picked it up and I shouldn't be getting that sinking feeling when I turn the key on a brand new car. I think I have a dud battery but I'm still getting that big one :-)... I measured 9 x 7 x 7high and I want the biggest CCA I can get in that package, is that all there is to it?
