Wife and I were out with friends to dinner in another city about 70 miles away. When finished I was playing "Big Man" and started my HHR while still in the restaurant so it would be warm. We got outside and they were oohing and aahing about how nice it was. I got in the car, stuck the key in, and proceded to put her in Drive. Couldn't do it. I tried the headlights, nothing happened. My gauges were dead. I was thinking of how we would get back home being that far away....I was really trying to put her in gear when I realized I had not turned the key to "ON". They got a good laugh out of it. I think I'm getting too old too fast.

They do, I thought it was an option, maybe it's standard with auto on 2008?

Must be an 08 thing, as the 07 I bought was the only one on the lot with remote start, and the dealer had more than 30 HHRs, maybe 10-12 with automatics.

I have an 06 with auto and it came standard on my HHR. To my knowledge it can be deleted but otherwise comes standard with every automatic transmission ever since launch here in the US. I believe it is an option in Canada.

I read in a GM brochure that autostart was STANDARD on ALL US HHR's from 06.

Canada?...not sure...you know how those far-away foreign countries are

I have never had a remote start on any vehicle but after purchasing this HHr
I will never have a vehicle of my own with out it, It is Great in the winter.
I have never used it in the summer. It is one of the better features along with the Heated seats

Thanks Smoke and Captain H. I stand corrected. Perhaps since it's standard, I overlooked it when reviewing the options side of the new car sticker and not looking closely enough at the standard equipment!

Nice catch... and the headlights don't come on either, significant less load. I'm using it all the time now,
3 times the thing hasn't started since I picked it up and I shouldn't be getting that sinking feeling when I turn the key on a brand new car. I think I have a dud battery but I'm still getting that big one :-)... I measured 9 x 7 x 7high and I want the biggest CCA I can get in that package, is that all there is to it?

It`s great in the winter, (heat), and summer, (a/c).
Best invention since sliced bread...
