You shouldn't need to.... WD40/lighter fluid/etc. would melt the glue well enough that a blade wouldn't be necessary. (Remember what happened with the stripe? Stay away from blades. Man)

Seriously though, that type of solvent, and a rag after you cut through the tape with the fishing line (floss is an okay idea too) should clean up nicely.

Seriously WD 40 works great for that so does Goo Gone and it smells better IMO anyway .....

 

Many of those oil type solvents are a similar base, so I usually use what's handy at the time. Just stay away from acetone/lacquer thinner types as that could ruin your paint.... and your day!

 

Why are you taking them off? I'm actually thinking of adding a set to mine...
