Salvage value of totalled HHR?

AN 2006 hhr was in a roll over, roof smashed some damage to both sides mostly on passenger door. And driver rear axle is bent.. About how much would I expect to be able to sell the vehicle for in its presen condition.. It has been totaled out and driver and passenger windows as well as windshield are smashed as well.. Has 110000 miles on it and still runs fine. I am considering buying it to rebuild it... slowly. I mean to ask how much should I try and get it for? Is $650 a fair value $700? I know parting it out it's worth that and more, but both front doors are no good, hatch is no good, rear passenger fender no good, front drivers fender no good, rear bumper no good, and again roof caved in, in the front...

Question... I revised it. We have an hhr, but we are on a very tight budget and need a 2nd vehicle in the next year that gets good gas mileage and is a reliable type, cannot afford much.. have way more time than money. But I do have a garage, welder, grinder, hand held grinder, mallet, and body work know how... I really concerned on getting the roof fixed though...

I'll try to get a picture up. If I get the car, then I will start a new thread elsewhere on how to go about fixing it.
thanks

OK, revised the title of your thread Highspeedcjb, no need for another thread.

Now that's taken care of.... to the forum!

Unfortunately, it sounds like the HHR in question is a beyond repair both economically and practically, and I have serious doubts that the finished vehicle would be safe enough to drive daily.

You might want to expand your search for one with a good but moderately damaged body, or a blown engine. Once you start talking about roof damage and suspension damage it would require a frame jig and considerable time to repair, not worth it sadly.

You will most likely only get what an auto wrecker will give.

Smashed roof=dead/not legal to fix frame/platform on a unibody.

Call a few local "recyclers" for quotes. I see signs in my neighborhood offering as much as $450 for any car, free tow away, I know they are making a profit when they take it to the scrap yard. I think I remember somebody saying a car at the scrapper gets $800, but check it out yourself then add the tow.

However, if the wheels are still good they are worth at least $25 each (probably $50). Carpet should be worth $100. Seats should get $50 each. All of the interior pieces are worth something. Bumper covers can be repaired usually and made to be worth something, You see repaired ones on E-Bay.

Hate to say it, hate to see one that badly smashed, but it's a goner I'm afraid.

With the damage to the "A" and "B" pillars, that HHR will never be more than an "organ doner" to keep its more fortunate kin on the road.
