Post Shift Points

2.2 and i usually shift at 3 grand. Seems too weak to shift any earlier. Also anybody else notice that above 4k the air intake really seems to whistle?

I shift when I want to move out of or into Park, and also when I want to move out of or into Reverse.

Other than that, I let the car do it for me...

I usually try and keep it under 3K for shifting. Doesn't seem to bog at all. Still getting used to drive a 4banger verses a V8. Still used to cruising an well under 2K. LOL

I have never given that much thought. Driving manuals all my life, one just gets a feel for it.
I'll pay attention on my way home from work today and take notes!

I do sure feel the intake when I have the inkling to jump on the throttle! Still pushes me back in my seat. (I did red line this morning!)

I usually shift somewhere between 3-4k just cruisin in town, but I truly believe all motors want to hit redline at least once a week to clear out the cobwebs

I have a 2.2L 5spd and generally shift around 3K. I don't really watch the tach...I just shift when it feels right. Also depends on my mood too...sometimes I wrap it up higher than that, especially when going from 1st to 2nd...don't wanna hold up traffic.

I nearly red line it in every gear all the time just to get moving quicker.

I probally shouldn't do that...
