Only have 900 miles on her but she tracks straight and true at all speeds.

I had the same problem with the shimmy off the lot when I bought mine. The dealer replaced both front Firestones and it fixed the problem. They said the tires where out of round. I've got the polished 17's as well.

Does anyone have anything to add regarding this issue? I gave up for a while but still have vibration at 60 mph. I am thinking of going back to the dealer for another round of aggravation.

Bought a 2007 HHR LS Back in july, and had the same problem, My father who owns a tire shop, checked them rebalanced them, test drove them and had the shake. We slapped a new set of cooper cobra tires on there and the shake went away. I have since bought rims and new nexen 5000 tires, and the ride is smooth. We are convinced that it is the Firestones.

Thanks for the input. I guess I don't need to bother with the dealer. The best I could hope for is replacement of the Firestones, again.

It might cost you a few dollors but take it to a tire shop and have them dismount the tires from the wheels and see if there is something in one of them. I worked in a tire shop once and we had this problem on a car we put tires on, one of the tires had a flat fixed and an awl use to remove nails or other objects was left in the tire when you drive slow it rolled around inside the tire making it out of balance. May be worth a shot.

Strongly suggest Michlen Hydra tires. They stick to the road, especially wet surfaces. They are amazing tires. I have put them on four different cars and the tires always perform well.

I have had 3 firestones replaced by the dealer now to fix out of round problems. Seems like I got a bad batch. No problems since all have been replaced.

In all my years of driving, I have never had this happen. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes! We had a snow storm on Sunday and I had to push a little snow getting up my driveway and it warmed up Monday and turned into a real mess. Tuesday noon huge vibration, …..just about shake the wheel out of my hands and in the gas petal too. Pulled over and there was some (not large amount) of ice inside one front wheel, cleaned it out and it drove fine. I have never had this happen before and have driven many different vehicles in these conditions before, it would appear that the 17 inch HHR wheel (at least) is very sensitive to balancing.
