Silicone grease for weatherstrips?

Silicone grease for weatherstrips?

I see in my owners manual that this is recommended for treating the weatherstrips.Has anyone actually bought and tried some of this stuff?

Haven't found the stuff outside of the Dealer....I use Armor All monthly on the weather stripping, Mother's Back to Black on the Window molding

It`s recomended because petroleum based grease` will break down rubber items. I`ve never had to use it. Just keep the rubber clean.

I used the GM Silicone stuff, once a year, for years. Seems to work pretty well and a tube will last for years, also.

Over the past couple of years, I switched to a vegetable based teflon grease, that I discovered the marine industry uses. Seems to work just as well.....no splits, rotting, squeaks, etc.

Except for 2 vehicles, I don't keep mine for very long. But, those 2 vehicle I used the GM stuff and had no problems after 6 and 10 years, respectively.

On the exterior, I use the Back to Black as well (thanks Deb) . Hate grey color "black" trim.

I have been using Back to Black for years.It really does the job and one bottle lasts quite a while.
