Snow problems

So we got our first snow here in oklahoma, and it felt like it was handling it all pretty weird. I've never had abs or anything so it was a little different. The ABS was noisy though, felt like someone was kickin my foot on the other side of the pedal lol. So to the problem though. I was going up a hill and about half way up there was a stop sign. So i stop, hit the gas and of course the low traction light comes on and it just dont go. And i just sit there for a minute or two trying to get some momentum,( and the car just kinda goin and stopping all the time. It did the same in all gears. So after a few minutes the brake, abs, and traction control lights all come on.(that is my main problem) I didnt know if it was suppose to do that or what, but after that my low traction never came on again and after a few more minutes i got some speed and made it up the hill. If anyone knows if this is normal tell me. :) Thanks alot

I kinda experienced the same thing but I was not going up Hills. While driving down a straight flat road I had the same issue after stopping at a light. The low transaction would come on then you would have to step on the gas to make it move. However I did not have the Low Transaction and ABS come on like your did. Just curious do you have the mud guards and running boards. I do not.

Are the brake and abs light still on. My guess is since you were on a hill you freaked the computer out. It sensed you trying to move forward, but in reality you were sliding or spinning the tires and going backward. Traction control usually will pull engine timing, apply the brakes, and a few other items to keep you from looping the car. I'd say it was probably normal, and the pcm just spazzed out. Drive if the lights keep coming on it may be an EBCM problem, then take it to the dealer thats what the warranty is for.

All of the lights stayed on for another 15 minutes, until I turned off the car and started it again, and they all stayed off.

In my old C4 Corvette, when I encountered snow or ice that car would act the same way. If you are stopped you just cannot get much forward movement by trying to power out of a slippery situation. The traction control detects the loss of traction and cuts the power. Once I tried to go up a very gentle incline that was slippery with a light snow, and it was impossible. The solution is to shut off the traction control and just power up the incline, then, after you have made it, turn the traction control back on. I don't have my HHR yet, so I can't tell you how to shut off the traction control, but most cars with this feature enable you to turn it off in such situations. Just remember to turn it back on after you are moving because it is a great feature to have in ice and snow, it is just no good it getting you moving from a standing stop when things are slippery.
