Squealing grommet on steering shaft

I replaced my intermediate steering shaft a while back with the Dorman replacement. When it started getting hot this year, it started squealing when I turn the wheel. At first I was able to use some silicone lubricant to get it to settle, but now that's not working. Any ideas what else I could try?

What gasket? The usual squeak is the bearings at the top of the struts, maybe the clock spring or the turn signal cancel ring.

The link in my signature may help diagnose the sound.

As far as I can tell getting under the dash and listening, it's coming from the grommet that goes thru the firewall.

Pop out the grommet and slide it up and down into white lithium grease. Then reinstall into the firewall, ensuring it’s fully seated.

Makes sense. I was hoping someone had a magic trick where I didn't have to pull the damn thing out again. Such a pain in the rear to get it back in. 🤣

LOL mine does the same thing. I'll just have to live with that little farting noise when I make tight turns. That rubber piece is a ROYAL PAIN to deal with.

You could use spray white lithium grease stick the little red straw in there and squirt!
