Steering wheel smaller in the SS?

I have a 2006 LT. Only complaint on the car is the steering wheel position is not so great. I test drove an SS version a couple of months ago and it seemed the steering wheel was smaller. (Also nice that p/w switches were actually on the door where they belong). If that wheel is smaller, I am going to order one and stick it on mine. Probably doesn't come in TAN, but what the heck... Anyone have an SS so they can measure the diameter of the wheel?

Steering Wheel Smaller in SS

Just measured mine at 14 1/2 inches outside diameter across the
center of the wheel along the axis that has the radio controls, etc.
Hope it helps you

Thanks - mine is 15-1/4" across. That 3/8" per side is not much difference! I wonder if there is any market for a slightly used leather covered LT wheel with all the buttoins on it? Anyone bought an SS wheel? I bet Chevy gets an arm and a leg for one...

I replaced my stock wheel with an 07' Cobalt leather wheel w/ radio controls. It also measures 14 1/2. But again, it was from a Cobalt.

Thought i heard a SS wheel was the same as a 'Vette, dunno if it's exactly the same, but i compared mine to a Vette's last time i was in the showroom, and other than a horn ring they look identical. But not sure if exactly the same in dia.

The time 'tween when i test drove a "reg" HHr and when i got the SS was a while, can't say i remember if i noticed a difference.
One thing i do remember when i got in/sat in a non-SS, is that i recalled it not being all that easy (6'1"/270'ish AND having spinal fusion surgery) helped, or more like did not help in getting in/out. After a few times when i got the SS, i can do pretty good w/ in and out of it,so mebbe the SS does have a smaller wheel, plus it looks like Chad proved that with his swap.

Does the Cobalt wheel come in tan leather with radio and cruise buttons? Did you have to order it or find one in a salvage yard? How much should I expect to pay for one?
