Welcome to the site some other members here have added superchargers. I would like to do it to my 08 some day. Here is a thread on one of our members supercharger project. You can find more with the search box at the top of the page. Keep us posted

Yes, Please keep me posted! Also if no pics, it didn't happen! I'm looking forward to hearing how this works out as I'm interested also. Granted, I'll be using Junk Yard turbos...

aboard

the problem is the years have to be exact or the tranny and wiring harness will not hook up so you have to be careful
it would be easier to just put the supercharger set up on your HHR
knowing these things it will not be a direct bolt on and you will have to do allot of adapting
you will need diff injectors. use the ford cobra 39 lb off ebay and you will need a different heat exchanger cause the SS isnt that great and there is a better one on ebay. it will have to be adapted andspaced so it doesnt hit your radiator
throttle body has to be adapted as well
you will also have to put a small hole on the intake gasket to make it work right.

the rest works pretty well
i have done 3 of these and its a several day job once you get all the parts in and you will need a tune

Welcome to the site.
I didn't know Superchargers had heat exchangers, I knew turbos did .

More appropriately, they have something akin to the intercoolers used with turbochargers. Because superchargers compress the intake air just like a turbo, they raise the temperature of the intake charge.

One of the "side effects" of compressing air is something called the "heat of compression" by engineers. It needs to be dealt with even on something as mundane as the compressor in the corner of your garage.

My first car (early-mid 80s) had a 2.3 non-intercooled turbo engine with a whopping 140hp, while similar displacement turbo engines with an intercooler made about 200hp. I would expect similar results with superchargers.
I would recommend you read up at cobaltss.net, there is more infomation there on adding a supercharger, most of which also applies to the hhr. Some differences include the air intake and heat exchanger mounting. I also have an '08, and have verified it can be tuned for a supercharger using either HPT or Trifecta, but Trifecta has done the majority of them.

I too have a dead Cobalt SS at my house. I'm planing on taking everything, engine, trans, engine harness, exhaust, computers, fuel injectors, and any thing related to transplanting the drive train to my 2008 HHR.
From what I have found out. It is a lot of work.
