Hi! I have a 2007 chevrolet hhr ls, 2.2 liter engine, with 25,000 miles on it. I would like to know if and when i should have the timing belt replaced. Does anyone know? The owner's manual makes no mention of it. Thank you

 

These engines have a timing chain...... shouldn't need service for a long, long time.

 

In theory, that timing chain should last the life of the engine.

 

I wonder if he was referring to the serpintine belt?

I hear the intake manifold gasket can start leaking coolant around 75,000 on these cars. You might want to look into that too.

 

And the muffler bearings should be repacked every 50,000 miles, or once every 3 years, whichever comes first.

 

Remember back when a timing chain actually could jump time? And fan belts actually turned the fan?

 

I have three where the fan belt is still a fan belt ('67,'61'and '37), and aren't the muffler bearings on the HHR's sealed?

 

Not needed if your running one of these.
