Night time driving is when the issue would come up the most. All I'm saying is why tint the widshield when you can hardly see the sun 90% of the time anyway. In my case I don't need it. I constantly wear some blacked-out terminator style glasses whenever I'm out during the day. I guess if you wear sunglasses the non-tinted windshield is ok. If you are 5' tall then I can see where the strip would help. My previous car had a windshield strip and I enjoyed it. In the HHR, I just see it as being not needed.

I had mine tinted. I love the way it looks and like it tinted better than it came.

Well here in Northern California its a bit sunny most of the time this time of year and the glare gets kinda bad. In the Bay area alot of our traffic lights are placed across the intersection from where you stop so viewing them is not much of a problem. The tint makes it a little nicer to look through.

The main question was why isnt the window tinted not if you wanted tint or not.

In California it is illegal to tint your windshield! Your only allowed factory tint at the top.
