The correct battery with the vent connection is readly available. I had no trouble finding one at a battery shop I have delt with for years. I would certainly take it back to the dealer, and point out this is a safety issue. That should get some response, if not start running it up the GM ladder.

Old eyes couldn't see the hole. When i found it I tried to clear the hole but nothing was in it. I think the part was inside the old battery that dealer replaced some months ago. 22 bucks and change at dealer same part at Amazon a little over 10 dollars for the vent tube.

I know this is an old thread but I came here to ask the same thing. Thanks to the info here I was able to plug the tube back in where it belongs. I'm including the pic I was going to post when I asked this question myself in the hope that it will help someone in the future. Thanks again, guys!
