How do you turn off the rear view mirror lights on the 2008 Chevy HHR?

I had a door opened on my car and the battery wore down. I could not locate the switch to turn the lights off and did not find it in the drivers manual. Would love to keep the doors open without worrying about battery dying.

 

You cant, Mine go off automatically after about 15 min i have never ran my battery down from this yet.

 

your hhr should be built with some type of time out relay that shuts off the power to the overhead lights after 20 mins or so.....I believe it says this in the owners manual too.

 

yes I tink it has some type of time out relay, so i will try to use the Radio wiith the all doors closed.

 

Very true. I was hoping to find a dome light override like all of my Chevy trucks and SUVs have. I guess that's one luxury we don't receive with the HHR.

 

Find the fuse and pull it. If this is an important issue with you, reach up behind the mirror and disconnect the entire plug.

 

The dash light dimmer switch controls the lights under thr mirror, turn the switch down just past the click stop.
