Talking twilight zone in my driveway!

Went out tonight to move the cars around becuae we're expecting some snow tonight and something really wild happened.

I little back story; both of my wife's remots shot craps and I finally got arounf to getting new ones and having them programmed a couple months ago.

So tonight I grab her extra set to move her car, use it to unlock her doors and the lights on BOTH our HHRs flashed! Thought I was seeing things so I tried it again and sure enough it locked both. Called my wife out because I still didn't really believe it. Sure enough, not only did it lock and unlock both, IT STARTED BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!!

I didn't try any of the other remotes because I didn't want to jinx it.

How rad! But unsafe at the same time. Imagine if that happened elsewhere, other than your driveway? =X

Sounds like my driver side door lock. It was wired from the factory incorrectly. The lock actuator was reversed but it worked for the first 7 months before I had a problem. Don't even know why it worked in the first place after looking at the service manual. Anyways, that seems pretty weird. I assume your going to get that fixed?

You understand we've had these cars for 4+ years right? Nothing wired wrong, somehow the frequency on one remote is close enough to work the other car. What needs to be fixed and why?

I'm just saying this. If someone knew that this was possible, there's no telling how badly they could exploit this and create havoc by doing stupid stuff.

A thiefs best friend, so to speak, not having to break a window, to steal valuables inside. Then again, I'm. I overthink things like this. I am Security, but man, its sucky sometimes. The worst thing comes to mind..

Well it shouldn't be possible, but anything is possible. Best thing would be to have one reprogrammed to get it onto another frequency set. I've had two GM cars keyed alike from different model years so weird things do happen. I'd have liked to seen the look on your face though, one of those eyes glazing over jaw dropping deals.

Was in Staten Island a couple years ago doing an investigation in the Govnmt Ford Taurus (I think a 98). Parked in a parking lot next to a Nissan Pathfinder also around the same age. As I walked away from the car with my partner I turned the alarm on and at the same time it set the alarm and flashed the lights of the pathfinder. Strange things happen with frequencies. On some of the older vehicles there wasn't many to choose from, and if it was an aftermarket install by a sub in a dealer the code choices were even worse & wonder how many left the default code in right out of the box...

checked our other three remotes, just the one does it. It'll be nice on cold mornings being able to warm both up with one remote
