Update 2 on work performed

I picked up the HHR tonight. Good news and disappointing news. First the good news:

1) They installed brand new rotors and brake pads, the brakes are perfect.

2) They installed new tailgate pistons and re-adjusted the tailgate. The loud "popping" sound is now gone and the tailgate works very smoothly.

3) They could not re-create the sun roof rattling sound, so that was not fixed. (NOTE: I didn't hear it this evening driving home. Mmmmm?)

Disappointing news:

1) When I took delivery of the HHR, there were serious bird droppings on the vehicle, and even after they had clean the car, they were still there. Today, they put it in the body shop and wet sanded the car and told me the droppings were "completely removed." Whomever said that must have had terrible eyesight becuase when I inspected the vehicle, you could still see the remnants of the bird droppings and so did the sales person and his manager. They took it back again, kept if for an hour, brought it back and AGAIN, the markings were still there. By then it was late and I had to get home (49 mile drive). They said they would "make it right" and I said, they would have to pick up the car as I wasn't driving back again. (They had the car for three days to make it right.)

2) When cleaning the car, they stripped the car of the new rear tail light chrome rings. They are going to buy new ones and replace. (I guess I shouldn't have installed them in cold weather??)

So the bottom line is: The service department did a good job, the body shop did a sub-par job. I will give them one more opportunity to make the exterior right before I fill out the satisfaction form that should arrive in another week or so. They are VERY concerned about that and even brought it up this evening. Evidently they must have 100% satisfied. I told them I will give them good marks as long as they deliver on what they promised.

So there you have it. Sorry if this bored you to death; I know it is a little long.

Peace,

Bird crap, eggs, blood, and other stuff like that will eat into the paint and can't be buffed out. They may have tried but if it went into the clear coat it will require new paint. We use to frog gig as kids and fry the legs, never would try them raw.

mwg2, those rear tail light chrome rings...are they attatched with 3m sticky tape? If so, any body shop should have that. How much did a pair cost you? i think i saw somewhere that they retail for about $50-60! are they chrome plated plastic?

Yes they are the chrome plated plastic.

Yes, they were attached with the 3M sticky tape.

I bought the 4 rings from HHR Boutique.

I followed the directions to the letter.

I think they need more than the sticky tape to "stick."

MWG2.....hmmmm...man....$6o seems like a lot of money for 4 plastic rings. Also , they seem to be able to be thiefed by anyone with a few seconds and a plastic putty knife. Seen similar tail light rings on another hhr supplier website, but they claim they are stainless steel . They also attach with 3m tape. I'm starting to think, with a little leg work...a person might be able to go to some hardware store or home depot and find some chrome rings for less then $10 and a few bucks more for 3m tape. Anyways, good luck with your car.
