I have the "other" chrome rings. they are stainless steel and also held on with the 3M sticky tape. I havent had a problem with them so far. Did you clean the paint first to remove any wax? and did you use the adhesion promoter?

The rings are not round - more egg shaped.

YES, I cleaned the area.

YES, I used the adhesion promoter.

Today, I found a guy that specializes in custom paint work and he said he has some adhesion solution that will make anything stick to a car permanently. Once the scripts arrive, he will install them for me.
