Warning ticket for switchback turn signals

Officer pulled me over this morning for having white instead of amber lights up front, showed him the amber turnsignal and told him I believe he was mistaken & that was a ticky tacky reason to pull me over. When I got home I looked up the code he quoted, that he wrote on one of his business cards.

RCW 46.37.150,
(1) Every vehicle shall be equipped with one or more lamps, which, when lighted, shall display a white or amber light visible from a distance of one thousand feet to the front of the vehicle, and a red light visible from a distance of one thousand feet to the rear of the vehicle. The location of said lamp or lamps shall always be such that at least one lamp or combination of lamps meeting the requirements of this section is installed as near as practicable to the side of the vehicle which is closest to passing traffic.

Am I missing something?

Sounds like he THOUGHT HE KNEW the law. I wonder what all the classic and antique vehicles do. There seems to be no provision in the law for them.

So, are you going to appear in court, or whatever your state procedure is, and show the copy of the law and ask for dismissal? I think most states would dismiss on the basis of what that law says.

Just a warning, no fine. I printed a copy & put it in my build book, I'm sure I'll see him again.

Sounds like he is to young to know that not ALL cars came equipped with directionals or your state law makers are to stupid to know that as well. Directionals were NOT available on cars before the 1950's. They became Required federally in 1954 or 1955.
