They have one: StreetGlow HHR SS
Really? Not sure which part of that you don't like, but I kind of like the underside lighting and have wanted to do it to my HHR. I don't like all of the inside lights, but I do like it underneath - something you can turn on and off. Guess I'm a 59 year old kid........
Remember one of our members did it to his silver HHR and I thought it looked pretty sharp.

Also the fact that over half of them are improperly installed does not help. If installed correctly you should not see the lights. Many just stick them where the bulb is exposed. Like em or not you have to admit some really looked bad just due to the install errors alone.
The worst was some guy in a lifted 4x4 that just put them on the side of the frame. It just did not work.
Also I was never a fan of the pink or weird color convoluted tubing on everything under the hood. I have been in cars for a long time.
I have made and done many dumb things myself over the years. But the one thing I have learned is often the less is more thing never goes out of style. Just look at all the graphics from the 80's they are like white disco suit and look very dated today.
In general, I really do agree with you. I own a 1954 Ford which is 100% original and am seeking an AACA Junior Award in June. Funny, if I see the wrong part on something like that I just cringe.
But, when you look at winners of our HHR car of the month, it's all about changes. While a stocker has probably one several times, that's the exception.
I do like some glitz. Just changed my HHRs wheels out and BAM. Looks really nice. Dice are a bit much however :)

There is nothing wrong with modifications. Just how many and what kind are not always done in good taste with in good limits.
In too many cases I see the idea that more is always better.
There is not right or wrong here there is just opinion. The way I see it some changes are good but you have to know when. Every car has its limits.
I work as a paid judge and have shown cars for over 25 years so I have seen a lot of ideas that work and many more that just don't work.
The key to a stand out car is to have the right limits on mods and mods that work together. I guess was more a Chip Foose or Rad Rods by Troy fan vs George Barris. If you have seen Georges lastest 2010 Camnaro you would understand what I mean.
In the end if you like the lights that is fine you have a right to feel that way. But I have a right to not like something too. The neon thing was just not for every one and I am one that just never took the bait.
I show my own car and it is modified with many GM prototype parts. They all work together to make it look like a car Pontiac could have built but never did. It has won on the national level and been in magazines. But the best thing was when the manager of the platform checked it out and approved of the way I built the car. I did not have to resort to any wild or trendy changes to get the look I wanted and what changes I did were all tied into one theme that made them all work to gether. It is just what I like and what works for most who show cars. Many of the best builders today use these same themes and I just tried to learn from them.
Bad graphic can kill a well done car if you are not careful.
