I resisted commenting here, well I tried....

The neon/LED accent lighting is a good look when done in moderation. I plan to do an Audi-style white LED strip in my headlights, and undercar LED illumination. Neither will be visible when not lit.
Oddly, I don't much care for the LED taillights. They look good, but will not go in with the general theme I am working in, which is primarily black/red/chrome. Van events that I attend (the HHR Panel is included at van events under the original rule of vans and panels only) have a nighttime "Bright and Shine" show for the audio/visual crowd. I like the look of mild custom in the daytime, and wild electronics at night.

Now if I get really crazy, I'd like to duplicate the '48 Suburban sheetmetal up front....

What Roth did was new, original and a long time ago. Many have copied but none did what he did any better nor should any try. Many try to copy Van Gogh and most make cheesy copies.

For what it is worth Dean Jefferies was king his work was all in steel and aluminum and very well done. So well done George Barris trys to claim his work as his own.

As for reflecting a personality it all just depends what kind of personality you have.

I kind of like the ones in the doors so you can see when you get out at night. My wife's dog sometimes poops in the driveway...
