Chevron, Shell, Exon, Quik Trip. All are top tier fuels and on the list.

GM will NEVER ENDORSE ANOTHER PRODUCT. For example, they will tell you to use, or you must use a synthetic oil in a vehicle. But they NEVER mention a brand even though the cars that they produce that requires synthetic oil, is delivered with Mobil 1. Even though they use Firestones on our HHR's they will not tell you you must replace with Firestone, just that the replacement must fit the spec.'s established. And, by the way GM was using BP in Michigan company cars and Chevron in AZ company cars. So, why would they endorse Shell.

Your mechanic is LIEING to you. Ask him/her for written documentation. Then when it's not produced I would seek another mechanic. Who knows what else he will lie about...the filter you didn't need, the alternator you didn't need, the battery you didn't need. Credibility is gone as far as I can see.

Oh forgot to say, for those people in the west and southwest....Atlantic Richfield (am-pm) is not on the top tier list.

This is why I avoid those blended fuels! I'm not sure how nature-friendly I'm being when the amount of ethanol in the fuel equals the drop in m fuel mileage! (might be streching it here, but screw it... )

I always turn right into a gas station, and there is always on my side - no matter which way I'm going! Mostly Shell though...

I know you are in Canada Kris but isn't all gas a 10% ethanol blend now at least in the States? I know it is im my area and everywhere I have traveled since they did away with the MBTE. No issue with MPG since I have been using the ethanol blend either (well at least in my Matrix)...did not have the HHR when they switched over

Usually whatever's cheap. I use gasbuddy.com to help me plan out where I'm buying. Since I'm on the go all over southeast Missouri, it's a good tool. Fuel can range in price up to 30 cents a gallon within a 30-40 mile radius of where I live.

Right now I kind of wish our cars were E85 compatible. There's an MFA down the road from me that's selling it for $2.25 a gallon right now. Regular's $2.69.
HHRCrafty...while I agree on reducing the amount of foreign oil we have to import, the fact that E85 gets about 25% less mileage because of less energy per gallon would probably be the deal breaker for me.Just as buying a hybrid is a "feel good" thing, the added expense of the hybrid will take many years of fuel savings to break even.Just playing the "devil's advocate" here. HonestBlues hit on it about the mileage but you also have to consider that e-85 does not sell for 25% cheaper than gas. Do the math and you`ll find that you spend more to go the same miles. Around here e-85 used to be cheap but when it started to catch on and give people an alternative the price mysteriously rose to near straight gas prices.

Here too. That was when we stopped using it. I don't think I have even used E-15 in our HHR yet.

I am pretty sure that is not the case here in Canada.

Not yet in Canada. Where there is mixed fuels they must be clearly indicated as such.

I'm surprised that all fuel in the states is of the blended variety. When I had my motorcycle, a '99 Suzuki GS500, the manual stated that I couldn't use fuels with ANY amount of Ethanol in it. Something about damaging seals or something...
