Just what the heck is an HHR, officially?

A minivan, a station wagon, an SUV? Something other than that?

I've really enjoyed my 2011, bought last November, but when people ask me about it, I haven't any real idea as to what category it fits into.

Frankly, it depends on your State and Insurance company. But GM originally listed the HHR as a truck......mostly to help with Federal truck CAFE requirements.

This topic has been discussed many times previously. A search in the SEARCH bar (top middle of the page) will probably yield several threads discussing this issue. But again, the previous discussions revealed essentially what I stated in the first sentence.......some say wagon, some say crossover, some say van, some say truck.

Look on the placard in your glove box:

AXK Vehicle Type Truck
AXP Vehicle Type - Multi-Purpose Passenger Vehicle
AXS Vehicle Type - Panel Van

Or, use the SEARCH tool to find the other 20,000 times that question has been asked.

Virginia says my 2011 LT is a SUV. My 2008 LT was a Truck. We don't pay a difference her until it gets over a certain GVW, so it really doesn't matter.

Three Trucklets is a "Gaggle".

Four Trucklets is a "Herd".

Five Trucklets is a "Cause for Divorce"(or so I'm told)

That's because your portfolio, or stable in this case, should be diverse!
