What Did You Do To Your HHR Today?

Actually a couple of forum members have completed the taillight mod and is where I got the idea.
Yeah, I am retired, been retired for 17 years. I don't have a place to paint or tools anymore. It was more of a wishful thinking thing when I offered to spray it. I am flattered that you would allow me to spray it for you.
Below is a 1973 Mustang I rear-clipped. The car was totaled in the rear. Front half was brown and the rear clip I bought was green. Brazed and welded the rear clip on and painted it red. The only way you could tell it was two cars in one was to put it up on a hoist (or pull up the carpet). That one I should have kept. This was in 1977-78.

Boydie,
Your light idea is brilliant! The dead zone of the lower light has always bugged me about the HHR....Well done sir. Also, I don't have anyone picked yet to do the paint job on my HHR/SUPER 8/2. When you say you haven't painted one for awhile, did you get out of painting cars? I live in Northern Indiana about three hours away from Elsie and would gladly make the drive for expert paint work!

Looks remarkable!!! I think alot of us have the "Ones We Should Have NEVER Let Get Away" Cars in our past. Mine was a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 from Texas. Still had shiny factory paint in 1989 when I sold her for $3,500. Can you say dumb ass attack? LoL
Beautiful Blue SS....I'm so dang jealous.....SSFAN
Below is my tail light conversion - almost complete - just need to remove the debris from where the HHR letters were and smoke out the lights.
I may need to change out the small round backup lights. Not quite bright enough for me.
Next mod: get rid of that wiper blade!

Dropped off my 2008 LT at the dealership to replace the broken Exhaust Flex Pipe under the 8 year/80k mile Cat warranty. I gave them the option to just install a lawnmower blade underneath if that was easier, because when the exhaust goes south on these, it sounds like my lawnmower. =)
I got new wiper blades all around, TRICO. Exact Fit for the rear and NeoForms up front. I'd never picked out or installed wipers before. The old ones were gently rotting in place; they would leave black streaks if you drew a paper towel along them. Nice thing to fix up for torrential downpour season.
Also stopped by the dealer for the free car wash. Their wash does a good job, though the back window and lift gate are still pretty dirty. The guys are nice, though, and this time he even took the antenna off so it wouldn't get damaged.
I drove around with the antenna off for a while, and the radio still brought in the local FM stations I listen to. This bodes well for a stubby aftermarket antenna; it's a small thing that has a surprising impact on how the vehicle looks.

I have been wanting to get a stubby antennae but wasn't sure if it would
work as well. Now I'll get one. Thanks.
